Release Schedule for 2.0

Saturday, December 01, 2007

Well, here we are in December! I've picked December 12 as the official release date for Bee Docs' Timeline 2.0. That gives me a couple weeks to finish up my demo videos and marketing materials as well as fix any last minute bugs that show up in the beta testing. However, I want to get the beta in some more hands, so if you are using Leopard and would like to try out the beta, please send an e-mail to beta@beedocuments.com. While you are at it, please let me know who you are and how you plan to use Bee Docs' Timeline 2.0. Thanks!

Thanks for the goof news! :')

re "select a look for your timeline"

as I'd like to include a timeline in Keynote will it be possible to select therefrom a 'background'? I ask because it would be useful to maintain a consisitent 'look' throughout a presentation.

many thanks

D

BACKWARD COMPATIBILITY?

Is there ANY chance you'll make a version of T2 compatible with Tiger (10.4)? There are lots of us who can't afford an upgrade just for the sake of one application -- however great the app looks! :)
Oh, and the screen shots of T2 do look great!
THANKS!

D, you can change the background to whatever you would like. You can also set the background to "none" and it will be transparent which is very useful for importing into Keynote. The Keynote theme will show through (you can even put a movie behind the timeline).

Laurend,

I made the decision because I am a solo developer and must carefully manage my time. Developing for two operating systems, whether they be Window and Mac, or two different versions of Mac, takes almost twice the amount of time as developing for one.

Also, Mac users as a whole tend to stay very up-to-date with new operating systems. The choice was between creating a great T2 that is optimized for Leopard by the end of 2007, or creating a version compatible with Tiger and not being finished for until late 2008. Not to mention keeping both versions maintained which is no fun at all. Another option would be to avoid using Leopard technologies.

I thought it would be better for both myself and the majority of customers, to focus my energy on one great version. Keep in mind that the cost of Leopard plus Bee Docs' Timeline is still less than many of the Windows timeline applications. Also, the T2 upgrade is free, so you can use 1.6 for now and upgrade to 2.0 when you have Leopard.

This is a decision that other respected Mac developers have been making too:

Hi, Adam. Just wanted to thank you for an amazing product. I discovered it 5 days before a Board of Directors meeting and used it to assemble a great deal of information in a logical and easy-to-digest fashion. Two of the officers at the meeting gave the unsolicited feedback of "this is my favorite slide in the whole presentation." And that was before I knew T2 was available! Have a merry Xmas, and thanks again for a great piece of software.
